Ammar Hanafi is Managing Director and General Partner of Moment Ventures, a firm he cofounded. Moment Ventures is based in Silicon Valley and currently investing out of its second fund, Moment Ventures II.

Reimagine Work, Moment’s thematic approach to investing, has led the team to unique entrepreneurs leading the transformation of their industries. Moment has active coinvestments with leading venture capital firms including Accel, Canaan, GV, Mayfield, Menlo and Norwest.
Prior to Moment, Ammar was a General Partner at Alloy Ventures. Alloy raised over $1 billion across five venture funds and traced its roots to Pitch Johnson, one of the original venture capitalists of Silicon Valley, and his venture firm, Asset Management. At Alloy, Ammar led investments in Mavenir Systems (IPO in 2013) and Cortina Systems (acquired in 2014) among others.
He currently represents Alloy on the board of directors of Agari Data, a leading cyber security company. Ammar previously served as Vice President of Corporate Business Development at Cisco Systems. During his tenure at Cisco, he led over 50 acquisitions and $750 million in venture capital investments.
Earlier in his career, Ammar worked at PanAmSat, a pioneer in private sector international satellite communications, and the investment banks, Morgan Stanley and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ). Ammar received a BS in Applied and Engineering Physics from Cornell University (1988) and an MBA from Stanford University (1995).
