Christopher Davis Kelley is a Banker and part of our Northern California business in the Private Bank. He brings over 14 years of capital markets, corporate finance, and legal experience to his role as a trusted advisor to individuals and families across the Bay Area. He works with clients to help build and preserve their wealth through financial planning and investment advice, tax planning, trust and estate recommendations, and lending strategies.
Prior to J.P. Morgan, Chris was a Vice-President at Credit Suisse in San Francisco on their institutional equity sales desk where he focused on the Asia-Pacific markets. In this role, he developed investment ideas, provided market insights and helped facilitate the investment process for hedge funds, pension funds and mutual funds on the West Coast. Prior to that role, Chris worked as a corporate lawyer in Davis Polk & Wardwell’s Menlo Park office and represented underwriters, financial sponsors and corporates in debt and equity financings as well as mergers and acquisitions. Chris began his career on the equity capital markets desk at Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong, working on equity and equity-linked financings for Asian corporates.
Chris received a J.D. from Columbia Law School and an A.B. in History from Princeton University. He also spent a year on a Fulbright Fellowship at Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan and a year on an Association of International Exchange Japan scholarship at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan. Chris speaks fluent Japanese and is proficient in Mandarin.
