As a serial social entrepreneur, I split my time starting and scaling social ventures and working on community initiatives primarily focused on educational opportunities for keiki in Hawai’i. I have launched multiple social ventures in Hawaiʻi, the continental United States, and Russia that scaled from concept to servicing Global 5000 companies in multiple different industries. All of my ventures have in some way directed resources to my native Hawaiian community. I have invented and patented numerous concepts that have been used by millions of people around the world such as envisioning and co-launching the world’s first online crowdfunding service (ChipIn) which scaled to fund $100 million in projects around the world, with the inaugural crowdfunding event being a fundraiser for Hōkūleʻa. My current series of inventions are deployed at my company Shifted Energy where we help grid operators balance supply and demand to accommodate more indigenous energy and lower operating costs, solutions scaling in the United States and abroad. Over 95% of Shifted Energyʻs deployments are in underserved areas including Hawaiian homestead communities.
